About the Artist

Gordon Rutledge - ArtistGordon Rutledge, water colorist, acrylic, oil painter and rock hound was born in New Mexico and raised in Sacramento, Ca. He attended Pacific Union College where he studied under Vernon Nye, AWS; Roger Blum, WSI; Joe Maniscalco, Charles Temple, and John Carstens.

Immediately after college, Gordon married Denise Winn, and together they spent the next seventeen years in the Caribbean. There he fell in love with the people, the climate, the color and the light. The tropics, especially the island of Dominica, still holds a special fascination.

Upon returning to the US, they first settled in Idaho, before spending four years in Bella Coola, British Columbia. Gordon and Denise returned to the US to live in Vancouver, WA. During their years there, they discovered God’s artistry in the rocks of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Montana.

This artist now lives in Walla Walla, WA where he continues trying to avoid the stereotype of the starving artist.
