Succor Creek, Oregon – Just after Sunrise

This amazing place in Eastern Oregon is one of our family’s favorite rockhounding sites. One late May 2019, we camped on one of the ledges above the creek. It was one of the wettest Mays in recent history, so there were plenty of clouds. We anticipated beautiful sunrises, yet they were disappointing for a photographer.

However, the golden hour was stunning as the sun and clouds played upon the reddish brown of the basalt cliffs and the green of spring grass beside our camp site.
